Generation Y and their first recession

Generation Y has, in the past, been identified by and associated with the following characteristics. These characteristics have influenced the way graduate recruiters have shaped recruitment messages, induction processes and communication strategies:

1. Questioning of authority
2. Highly expectant
3. Lacking loyalty
4. Apolitical
5. Demanding feedback and endorsement
6. Ethical business focus
7. Blurring work and play
8. Technology focused – highly networked
9. Demanding of work life balance
10. Lacking long term ambition
11. Tolerant of difference
12. Butterfly career approach

But, given the aftermath of the recession, does Generation Y still act this way? And if not, do we have to re-think and re-position graduate recruiters to attract, engage and enthuse this demographic. Our research set out to compare the extent to which these behaviours have evolved following the recession.

The results are revealed in this whitepaper.
