    How we delivered a full-scale, future-proofed DE&I recruitment process audit for a 500 year old institution.

      Establishing clarity. In both CofE’s strong ability to roll out, diverse recruitment drives, but also in identifying opportunities for improvement.

      The co-created roadmap. Developed after an effective DE&I audit of their current recruitment process. This allowed them to not only mobilise change immediately, but maintain long-term momentum with actionable, realistic and bespoke recommendations.

      Genuine buy in. By establishing support from key stakeholder and employee resource groups, all embedded actions can have a lasting impact.

    Challenge

    With seven wider National Church Institutions (NCIs), CofE needed support with a recruitment strategy that allowed them to recruit candidates that truly reflected the diversity of the communities they serve.

      Having made great progress already, CofE still needed to create processes that were effective now and in the future.

      As a faith-based and mission-led organisation, targeting candidates from other faiths or no faith posed a challenge. The reality is that candidates from any creed, race or religion are welcomed.

      The barrier of existing negative perceptions impacts the pool of potential candidates and drives them elsewhere.

      Our Assessment Psychology team forensically analysed the whole recruitment process and over 80 internal documents. From attraction to role creation to onboarding, the deep immersion the team underwent won the hearts and minds of the organisation. Underpinned by regular consultative check-ins with the core team, we ensured the involvement of everyone as well as real ownership of the recommendations.

      Our Employer Brand & Insights team carried out a communications deep dive and shed light on how appealing the existing collateral were for candidates with a broad range of backgrounds and experiences.
